Hello and welcome to my Humanities Portfolio! My name is Emma Melton, and I am a 2020-2021 student of the Humanities 103/104 courses at Davidson College. Within this portfolio, I will discuss History and the Humanities— and explicate how they intertwine through the many sections of the website. Moreover, I will discuss how history is rooted in everything.
The theme of my portfolio is History & Humanities, as they go hand-in-hand and both form the foundation of our world. Please peruse this portfolio as you wish, in whichever order you would prefer. I would recommend starting on the About page to glean an understanding of why this became the theme of my Humanities portfolio. After that, perhaps click on “What is…” will help you begin your journey through this website. Although this is how I recommend starting, please feel free to explore in any fashion that suits you! All menu items are clickable and some have drop downs as well.
I would like to acknowledge the professors that taught me and expanded my knowledge this semester: Dr. Robb, Dr. Fache, Dr. Green, Dr. Tamura, and Dr. Luis. I would also like to formally acknowledge Dr. Denham for leading and facilitating this program. It has been a pleasure to learn from each of them and expand my intellect in a variety of fields of study. I would also like to thank the Fellows, especially Mary Shandley (my phenomenal and irreplaceable AT), for the care, support, and extreme mentoring that they have provided this semester. It is thanks to you all that I have found Humanities 103 so brilliant — and have been able to delve so deep into the subject matter covered.
